The Prescott College Library supports the curriculum with a variety of print and electronic resources. Our online catalog reflects not only our collection but that of more than 30 other libraries in Yavapai County. A universal library card allows borrowers to request books, place holds on materials, renew items, and create bibliographies from all libraries in the county.
Programs
The Library offers regularly scheduled and ongoing instruction and orientation programs for faculty and students, including bibliographic instruction, electronic database and "Search the Web" tutorials, and internet workshops, seminars, and colloquia throughout the year.
Philosophy
Librarians provide professional library services in support of student, faculty, and community ideas and projects. As a primary source of access to and interpretation of information, librarians offer their education, expertise, and experience, as well as ingenuity, commitment, and an ability to be flexible and creative in an ever-changing, ever-expanding environment.
- The Library supports the Mission of Prescott
College.
- The Library respects the Honor Conscience of Prescott College, expecting
members of the college community to act with honesty and integrity.
- The Internet is a learning resource comparable to books, journals,
CD-Roms, and videos. Internet access is therefore provided to help
meet the educational and personal information needs of the college
community.
- The Library, as a member of the American Library Association, respects
the American Library Association's Library
Bill of Rights as well as the Values of the Reference User Services
Association.

Fines
General circulating items - $.25 per day, per item, up to $10.00.
Interlibrary loan materials - $1.00 per day, per item, no grace period.
Reserve materials - $.25 per hour, per item, no grace period.
Fines are charged only for the days the library is open. The library extends
a five-day grace period on general circulating items. The grace
period is designed to give borrowers the opportunity to return
library materials without
penalty in the event they are unable to do so at the time the book
is due; it is NOT an extension of the loan period. Items returned
after the expiration
of the grace period are fined from the actual due date at a rate
of $.25 per day per item, up to $10.00 per item. After 30 days
the items are billed
at full replacement cost plus a non-refundable $10.00 processing
fee. All fines or charges must be paid in full by the end of the
enrollment period
in which they are assessed. Any unpaid balance will be forwarded
to the Business Office for collection and will have a $10.00 non-refundable
processing
fee added. Borrowing privileges may be revoked at the discretion
of the library staff for excessive abuse of the system, policies,
or procedures. Overdue notices are a courtesy; borrowers are responsible
for knowing
the
due date of materials checked out to them.
Interlibrary Loans
Students may be charged a minimal fee for inter-library loan materials ordered from outside the local system. Please check with the library staff for current fees. Materials ordered may not be cancelled. Inter-library loan requests generally require at least three weeks lead time, and the materials received continue to be the property of the lending institution unless other arrangements have been made. Students are responsible for any overdue fines or other fees assessed by the lending institution.
Community Patrons
Community patrons at other Yavapai Library Network libraries may place a hold on any Prescott College title in the online catalog. The book will be sent from Prescott College to your "home" library and you will be notified of its arrival. Community patrons may borrow books directly from Prescott College by applying for a Prescott College Community Borrower's Card. We require a photo ID with proof of current address.
