RockClimbing for the Over 40 Crowd with David Lovejoy

Experience the Outdoors from a whole new angle!

·        Safe and Fun introduction to Outdoor Rock Climbing

·         Ideal for Beginners

·         Expert instruction by Prescott College instructor

Instructor:  David Lovejoy, Faculty at Prescott College. 

David wrote the original Granite Mountain Climbers’ Guide in 1972 and is hailed as a leading influence in promoting low environmental impact rock climbing.  His climbing and ski mountaineering exploits have taken him to many rock walls and alpine regions of the world.  David is known as a fun and interesting instructor who is also skilled at safely and thoroughly teaching to many levels.

Level 1:  Beginning Climbing   $195

Saturday & Sunday  Sept. 6 & 7

Granite Basin.  Introduction to scrambling, easy climbing, rappelling and top roping

Level 2:  Beyond Beginning Climbing    $195

Saturday & Sunday  Sept 13 & 14

Granite Mountain or Thumb Butte.  The next level - single to multi-pitch climbing.

·         Note:  to enroll in level 2, participants must have prior experience or attend level 1

8 AM—3 PM Lost Traditions: Cheese & Buttermaking Workshop
We are bringing back the lost tradition of home cheese making. Cheese is a whole food when made with fresh milk. While attending this workshop, students will learn how to make cheese… what the different cultures do for the milk and why they are used. What is rennet and why is it used to make cheese. Attendees will also leave knowing what ingredients can be added to enhance the flavors of cheese. We will also cover the art of home butter making. How to culture butter and taste the difference between sweet cream butter verses sour cream butter. And what to do with butter milk and whey! Join the homesteaders and become less dependant on industrialized dairy products——tastings included!

Tuition: $100

Location: Chino Valley

Class Instructor: Nance Sparks, homesteader and staff member at Prescott College.

Oct. 4 – Dec. 6 (9 Class Series)gf
Introduction to Relational Horsemanship Skills:
 9 a.m. – noon
  No prior experience with horses is necessary 
Tuition: $575 for the 9 class series
Location:  Chauncey Ranch in Dewey, AZ
Class Instructors: Paul Smith & Steve Rafters of Centaur Leadership Service
Actual Class Dates: Oct. 4, 11, 18, 25 & Nov. 1, 8, 15, 22 (no class Saturday Nov. 29)

Horses and equipment are provided.

Oct. 4 – Dec. 6 (9 Class Series)    
Intermediate Relational Horsemanship Skills:
  1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Pre-requisite: Students must have a basic comfort with catching, tacking and working at walk and trot with horses
Tuition: $575 for the 9 class series Location:  Chauncey Ranch in Dewey, AZ
