Fellowships Available

Environmental Education

Fellowships available at the Prescott College Field Station in Kino Bay, Sonora, Mexico The Kino Bay Environmental Education Program (EEP) strives to provide children from the small fishing community of Kino Bay with the knowledge, motivation and skills to become involved in sustainable resource management and conservation efforts in the ecologically rich Midriff Island Region of the Gulf of California, Sonora, Mexico. The EEP addresses a critical need for education and capacity building in a community that is faced with important fisheries and marine resource issues. The program was initiated in 1997, and works in collaboration with the primary and secondary schools in the community.

The community outreach and environmental education fellow will implement existing curricula for raising awareness, developing knowledge and skills, and increasing concern and involvement in regional conservation efforts. The fellow will coordinate with Center staff to continue the long-term education and outreach programs that focus on regional ecosystems and conservation issues. The fellow will work collaboratively and independently to implement educational programs for the primary and secondary schools, and within the community.
