PRESCOTT COLLEGE ENROLLS RECORD NUMBER OF NEW STUDENTS

PRESCOTT - Prescott College has recently enrolled a record number of new students. Shari Sterling, director of Admissions for Prescott College, reports that the college's three degree programs - Resident Degree, Adult Degree and Master of Arts - have all surpassed the new student enrollment goals.

"Enrollment numbers are on the rise because Prescott College has received national recognition for its excellent programs," said Sterling. "More students are discovering that our educational philosophy, as well as our self-designed programs and experiential learning, really fit their needs."

In particular, new students in the Master of Arts program, which has campuses in both Prescott and Tucson, increased by almost 70 percent to 49 for this school year. Another reason for increased enrollment is flexibility. "The top reasons students choose our Master of Arts and Adult Degree programs are because they are self-designed studies that allow students to maintain their personal and professional lives," said Sterling.

In addition to the record number of master's students, the college welcomes 155 new Resident Degree Program students and 55 new students in the external undergraduate program (Adult Degree Program). This brings total enrollment to approximately 924.

This year's Prescott College students hail from all over the United States and the world, including Africa, Germany, Israel, Switzerland and Japan and will major in subjects including Education, Counseling Psychology, Environmental Studies, Adventure Education and Humanities.

"In the future we hope to continue to provide students with quality self-directed programs," said Steve Walters, dean of the Adult Degree Programs. "If we have quality programs and serve the students well, our programs will continue to grow naturally."

Prescott College strives to educate students of diverse ages and backgrounds to understand, thrive in, and enhance our world community and environment.
