PRESCOTT COLLEGE APPOINTS COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR
PRESCOTT - Prescott College announces the appointment of Karlyn Haas as
the new communications director for the college.
"The communications director is a new position that will be part of
Prescott College's Institutional Advancement Office," said Rodney Ossowski,
Prescott College's acting chief advancement officer. "Ms. Haas was selected
by a college search committee after a three month, nation-wide search process
that involved more than 60 candidates."
As communications director for Prescott College, Haas will be responsible
for public relations, media relations, publications, the college web site
and short and long-term communication planning.
Haas holds master's degree in journalism with an emphasis in environmental
communication from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich. and a
bachelor's degree in geology from Hartwick College, in Oneonta, NY. Haas
has experience in writing, editing, reporting, publication design, public
relations and web page design. Her prior experience includes work with the
Michigan Department of Environmental Quality; The Great Lakes Reporter, the
Michigan chapter of American Public Works Association newsletter; the MSU
Environmental Journalism Program; and the MSU Institute of Water Research.
"Ms. Haas's experience and education fit perfectly with what we were
looking for in a communications director," said Ossowski. "Prescott
College's educational philosophy stresses experiential learning and self-directed
study. Because Ms. Haas has shared in many of these experiences, like a Prescott
College student, we felt she was the best candidate to communicate what we
do here at Prescott College to the community and media."
