Prescott College's Sustainability and Global Change Program Receives Full
Funding
The Prescott College Sustainability and Global Change Program has received
full funding from NASA for this year, totaling $436, 871.
Wil Orr and Hoyt Johnson of the program return to Washington D.C. for a
Nov. 10 meeting with Interior Secretary Bruce Babbit's staff. They will present
a proposal for a environmental impact and urban growth modeling and training
program. The program would provide decision support tools for "gateway
communities" that border entrances to national parks. If successful,
the program could be awarded a grant in the order of $1.25 million over a
five-year period.
In addition, Orr and Johnson will present at several conferences, including
the "Quality of Life Conference" at Rutgers University, in New
Jersey on Nov. 10. On Nov. 15 and 16 they will be in Brazil attending a United
Nations conference and present on flood and disaster modeling. In Bozeman,
Mont., they will participate in a locally televised public extravaganza on
the "impacts of continued growth."
