ADVANCEMENT OFFICER
Prescott College is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Jane Joyal
as the new chief advancement officer for the College.
"The chief advancement officer is part of Prescott College's Institutional
Advancement Office," said Dean Gret Antilla, who lead the nationwide
search to fill the position. "Ms. Joyal has a great deal of experience
in many areas of advancement and development, but what set her apart is her
passion to meet the needs of students and her understanding of the importance
of a liberal arts education and Prescott College's mission."
As chief advancement officer, Joyal will be responsible for enhancing Prescott
College as an institution by improving support in the form of gifts and grants,
alumni loyalty and public esteem. She will work to match external funding
sources with the College's academic programs, coordinate fundraising activities
and serve as one of the senior managers of the College.
"I'm delighted and proud to be a part of the Prescott College community," said
Joyal. "Prescott College is at the forefront among higher education
institutions at integrating a solid liberal arts and sciences curriculum
with the important issues of sustainability and environmental sensitivity.
I am eager to work with Prescott College students, faculty and staff to advance
the mission of the College."
"I hope to increase national awareness of the extraordinary activities
that are taking place at Prescott College, including the adventure education
program, the Adult Degree Program, the sustainable campus initiative and
field programs at the College's Wolfberry Farm in Chino Valley, and the Kino
Bay Center in Mexico. I also want to make certain that the community of Prescott
is aware of the extraordinary institution it has in its midst," she
said.
Joyal comes to Prescott College from Colorado College in Colorado Springs,
where she served as associate dean of the summer session and was responsible
for development, fundraising and marketing. She has also worked in development
and advancement for the Colorado Springs Symphony and Reed College.
Joyal also has extensive experience working with local governments, having
worked with the Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments and serving as mayor
of the town of Green Mountain Falls, Colo. in the early 1980s. She holds
