Prescott College Annual Fund A
Success
Prescott College has announced the completion of its 1999-2000 Annual Fund
Campaign, having raised $207,131 as of June 30. This amount was the second
highest Annual Fund total in the school's history, according to Rod Ossowski,
director of annual giving.
"What makes this Annual Fund very special each year is that all of
this money is raised from private sources such as alumni, parents and friends
of the College," said Ossowski.
This year's campaign was led by 180 parents of students and alumni making
gifts that totaled over $49,585. Alumni giving also increased for the third
year in a row, with 281 alumni making gifts totaling over $78,800; a 54 percent
increase in alumni giving over last year.
Corporate, business and foundation gifts accounted for approximately 18
percent of the campaign with $37,705 raised. No funds came from public or
government sources.
Of special significance, according to Ossowski, was the strong support from
the College's faculty and staff. Forty five percent of the school's relatively
small faculty and staff combined to contribute $6,186 back to the College,
most of it through semi-monthly payroll deductions.
"This is a wonderful indication of the pride that many of our faculty
and staff have in Prescott College. They are not only dedicated in working
here, but are willing to give back from their paychecks to support the school,
as well. This is the best endorsements that you can have," said Ossowski.
Over the last five years, the Annual Fund of Prescott College has raised
almost one million dollars. Prescott College was established in Prescott
in 1966 and has almost 6,000 alumni. The College is nationally recognized
as a leader in experiential and self-directed student learning, as well as
for its outdoor education and environmental curriculum.
The Annual Fund provides unrestricted operating money to the College that
helps to support such things as student scholarships, classroom materials,
library books, and facility repairs and maintenance.
