PC STUDENT AWARDED PRIZE
IN "WHY
DON'T WE VOTE?" NATIONAL ESSAY CONTEST
Prescott, Ariz. - Emily Talmage, a senior at Prescott College from Merrimac,
Mass., was awarded an Honorable Mention in the "Why don't we vote?" national
essay contest.
The question was posed by the Center for Voting and Democracy and the Chicago-based
Midwest Democracy Center earlier this year. They received nearly 9,000 essays
from young Americans across the nation.
Talmage's 1,000-word essay examined the issue of political participation
by young people and possible changes to the electoral system and was one
of 12 essays awarded a prize.
Talmage is studying environmental education at Prescott College, in Prescott,
Ariz.
