Computer Lab

The Computer Lab serves enrolled students in fulfilling their College-required work, providing office applications and Internet and email access. The Computer Lab is open seven days a week (except in the summer) with extended hours at the end of each Block and Quarter and is staffed full-time by a computer professional or a student employee. Academic work for classes takes priority over other uses. Students using computers for non-academic work may be asked to forfeit their computer if another student needs it for an academic purpose.

Students must have a computer account and password before they can use the Computer Lab. For an account, students must agree to the Prescott College Acceptable Use Policy, which is included in the Student Handbook. Accounts (user name and password) are generally available within 24 hours.

ANY service provided at the Computer Lab is subject to the conditions set forth in the Prescott College Acceptable Use Policy (Acrobat). Sharing your user name and password is strictly prohibited. Infractions of Computer Lab rules may result in loss of computer privileges and/or use of the Computer Lab and further discipline by the RDP Dean.

Student computer accounts expire upon withdrawal from the College. As a courtesy, graduates are allowed to maintain their accounts for one quarter beyond graduation.

The College does not assume liability for storage of students' computerized work. Students may save their work to the College network server only as a temporary measure. Student should save copies of their work to a properly formatted and secured removable diskette each time they log out of the system.

When in the Computer Lab:

  • Print one copy only—if duplicated are needed, use a copy machine.
  • Print only documents related to academic work.
  • Keep food and drink away from keyboards and computer equipment.
  • Keep feet on the floor and backpacks in designated areas—any grit on the work surfaces may cause damage.
  • Talk quietly—the Lab is not a social area.
  • Clean up after using the Lab
  • Report computer/printer problems to Lab staff.
