Introducing Moodle
Prescott College is using an Open Source, Learning Management System called Moodle. The purpose of this new system is to improve the networking opportunities among students, faculty, and staff as well as to offer a few course areas.  Moodle has many capabilities such as uploading files and facilitating both synchronous and asynchronous discussions. Moodle also allows us to set up message boards for faculty and staff where questions can be posted and answered and dialogues can be started on any subject. Moodle is now being in the Teacher Certification programs as a method of creating electronic portfolios and meeting National Educational Technology Standards (NETS).  We believe that Moodle will be a welcome edition to the students' experience at Prescott College and will help to foster an even more complete sense of community.

Moodle is currently being used by close to 300 students, staff and faculty across the college, primarily in the Adult Degree and Graduate Programs (ADGP).  Below is a listing of current areas in the Adult Degree Program.  Courses in the Ph.D. program are listed here (Moodle password required).  In order to access these pages, an enrollment key is required.  Your faculty member normally provides the key.

ADP Advising Spaces:

Faculty, Ellen Greenblum (for her students only)

Faculty, Jeanine M. Canty (for her students only)

Faculty, Terril Shorb (for his students only)

Faculty, Vicky Young (for her students only)

Faculty, Gary Stogsdill (for his students only)

Faculty, Vance Luke (for his students only)

If you are interested in enrolling in the one of these courses, please contact the course faculty directly.  Also please note that the Adult Degree Program is a community based program and is not an online learning model.  Students are encouraged to work directly with mentors in their home communities.  Courses offered at Moodle are in key areas where students may have difficulty finding mentors.  Students taking courses at Moodle still design unique contracts that include experiential activities within their communities.

Getting Started with Moodle
If you are a current student and have been approved to work in one of the Moodle areas, you can login using the information about creating a user account.  Please note that you will need an enrollment key from the course faculty in order to enter a specific area.  You can also login if you are a current student and you would simply like to access the student forums or help forums. Currently we do not offer guest access to any part of Moodle.

Help with Moodle
If you are having problems with Moodle you should first visit the Student Help Forums or Faculty Help Forums to see if your issue can be addressed there.
