Decolonizing Maasai History: A Path to Indigenous African Futures – Book Launch

You are invited to gather at the Prescott College Library on January 20, 2024 starting at 4:00 p.m. to celebrate the launch of a book that highlights 20 years of collaboration between Prescott College and the Maasai community of East Africa.

The book, written by Meitamei Olol Dapash and Mary Poole, Decolonizing Maasai History: A Path to Indigenous African Futures, presents a Maasai vision that another world is possible and demonstrates the importance of the stories we tell of history to finding our way to those futures.

On January 20th, a day of remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we will reaffirm our commitment to keeping alive the story of the Civil Rights Movement and its accomplishments. January 20th is also the day of the presidential inauguration, and so we also gather as a college community to demonstrate our commitment to continue the fight for diversity, equity and inclusion in higher education in the face of new challenges.

Prescott College president Barbara Morris will introduce this event ,which will include a short reading, brief commentary from a few invited guests, and an opportunity to meet the authors and buy the book.
