Students with this degree move onto varying careers that involve place-based learning at all levels. They bring the Prescott College way of holistic and experiential learning to people and organizations adapting to our ever-changing environmental and social landscape.

What will this program look like?

Asynchronous by design, this online program fits into your schedule. Students take 6 core OL courses ranging from philosophies and methods, program administration, risk management, and DEI, emphasizing ethics, place-based learning, and curriculum development. You will take elective coursework in an area of your choosing, such as environmental education, sustainable business management, adventure therapy, social justice, and activism. Combining your concentration with the foundational curriculum will open perspectives and opportunities in your work as an outdoor educator. In our capstone semester, create an original research project, such as a portfolio of curriculum development, a business plan, development of programs for specific populations, ethnographic research, and more. Thinking a Ph.D. might be in your future? You can always opt to do a thesis.
