What will this program look like?
Asynchronous by design, this online program fits into your schedule. Students take 6 core OL courses ranging from philosophies and methods, program administration, risk management, and DEI, emphasizing ethics, place-based learning, and curriculum development. You will take elective coursework in an area of your choosing, such as environmental education, sustainable business management, adventure therapy, social justice, and activism. Combining your concentration with the foundational curriculum will open perspectives and opportunities in your work as an outdoor educator. In our capstone semester, create an original research project, such as a portfolio of curriculum development, a business plan, development of programs for specific populations, ethnographic research, and more. Thinking a Ph.D. might be in your future? You can always opt to do a thesis.

- This program will engage you with a dynamic curriculum that emphasizes interpersonal communication skills, specialized technical skills, program design and administration, with a focus on specific populations, processes, and environments.
- You’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore in-depth roots and practices of experiential and outdoor education and examine its many applications in private and public settings.
- You’ll engage with highly experienced faculty who have taught and explored across the globe. Together you will dive into a dynamic curriculum emphasizing applied pedagogical concepts, interpersonal communication skills, specialized skills, program design and administration, and/or focus on specific populations, processes, and/or environments.
- The Outdoor Leadership Program is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association. The Higher Learning Commission has approved Prescott College to offer all of its degree titles via distance education.
