Top 3 Questions Answered
1. What is Prescott College’s new tuition price?
Prescott College is resetting its annual published tuition price for on-campus undergraduate students from $33,960 in 2025-26 to $15,000 beginning in the fall of 2026. This reset now allows Prescott College to offer a private college education at a more affordable, transparent price.
2. Why is Prescott College resetting its tuition?
Pricing in higher education is complicated. Students don’t often know what their tuition bill will actually be by looking at published prices. By being transparent in our pricing and aligning our published price more closely with the actual price that students currently pay, students will have the information to determine whether a Prescott College education is financially realistic and achievable for them.
3. Who should I contact if I have further questions?
Current students who have questions about their specific aid and cost of attendance should contact the Financial Aid Office by emailing [email protected] or calling 928.350.1111.
Prospective students who have questions should contact the Admissions Office at 928.350.2100 or [email protected].
General Inquiries
The new tuition will benefit all on-campus undergraduate students.
Yes, the tuition will be the same for all on-campus undergraduate students.
This change is intended to provide more transparency regarding the true cost of a Prescott College on-campus undergraduate education. Recognizing that families may be intimidated by the published tuition price of $33,960, they may rule out a private college education. Prescott College has lowered on-campus undergraduate tuition to $15,000 per year to align our values of inclusivity, justice, and sustainability with the cost of our education.
Beginning in March 2025, President Barbara Morris and Chief Operating Officer Michele Peterson worked collaboratively with a taskforce of Prescott College stakeholders to evaluate the impact and opportunity for lowering the published tuition rate. In partnership with a financial aid consulting firm, the new rate was researched and balanced against factors such as cost of attendance at Arizona public universities and other competitor institutions, as well as local cost of living and Prescott College operational costs. The new proposed rate was then approved by the Prescott College Board of Trustees in July 2025. This process ensured that the decision was made using data and involving stakeholders.
No. Due to our generous financial aid policies, 100% of our current on-campus undergraduate students received financial aid and merit awards to offset our published tuition. A student’s total cost is set individually and depends upon a number of factors, including their academic profile, family income and assets, and eligibility for a number of scholarship/fellowship programs. Prescott College’s new (or reset) tuition cost now more closely aligns with what families were actually paying for tuition after receiving financial aid and merit awards in previous years.
Current students will see no change in the 2025-2026 academic year. Continuing on-campus undergraduate students will pay the same or less in 2026-2027 before taking into account federal aid, and will be sent an individual comparison worksheet this fall via email to show them the expected changes both to the tuition and to their individual institutional financial aid awards. In the spring, students will also receive their official financial aid offers taking into account federal aid, provided the student completes the 2026-2027 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after it opens on October 1, 2025.
On-Campus Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate on-campus students will see a flat 2026-2027 tuition rate, representing a decrease of 55.8% from the 2025-2026 tuition. The new $15,000 annual tuition transparently reflects the cost of a Prescott College education without the complicated formula of tuition discounts. This will reduce the direct cost of attending Prescott College (which includes room, board and standard fees) by approximately 42.4% — using 2025-2026 costs, that would mean going from over $43,234 to approximately $24,920.
The new tuition price of $15,000 is in line with what on-campus undergraduate students actually pay because all on-campus undergraduate Prescott College students are considered for institutional scholarships.
The flat-rate $15,000 annual tuition makes Prescott College comparable to the cost of enrolling at a public institution. We also now offer one of the lowest tuition rates among private, liberal arts colleges.
In 2026-2027, families of current students can expect to pay the same out-of-pocket cost as they currently pay before accounting for federal aid. Also, because the tuition base is now smaller, students should see smaller incremental increases during their enrollment at Prescott College in future years. That means families should see savings over what increases would have been had tuition not been reset. Financial aid packages will be adjusted in line with the new tuition, such that current students will pay the same net tuition and fees in 2026-2027 as they pay now.
Prescott College has designed the overall new price to ensure that the out-of-pocket cost students pay starting in Fall 2026 will be equal to or less than they would have paid had the college not implemented the reset. The financial aid office will be in contact with returning students with specifics on their particular situations.
Returning students will pay about the same amount under the new tuition price as they pay now. When students review their bills for the 2026-2027 academic year, they will see that the combined total amount of institutional scholarship and financial aid will be lower — but Prescott College will charge a proportionately lower amount for students’ tuition. So, while some of the figures on our bill will change, the net tuition cost — what students actually pay — will be about the same as it is now.
The new tuition price of $15,000 is effective beginning in Fall 2026 for both new and returning on-campus undergraduate students.
We anticipate that the actual price of attendance (net price) for a returning on-campus undergraduate student in 2026-2027 will remain roughly equal to the amount students are paying this academic year, assuming the student maintains their academic progress and that their family’s financial circumstances remain the same.
That said, both the actual billed tuition and the total financial aid for each returning student will be proportionally lower in 2026-2027 and going forward.
No. All on-campus undergraduate students will be enrolled at the new $15,000 annual tuition for the 2026-2027 year.
Prescott College leadership is committed to keeping annual increases at the lowest rate possible. The 2026-2027 standard room and board cost will be approximately $9,006, which is a 3% increase over the 2025-2026 rate.
The cost of attendance for 2026-2027 will be posted for all students on our Cost of Attendance website.
In the very near future this fall, returning students will also receive a comparison worksheet showing their total costs (inclusive of tuition and fees, institutional financial aid, and estimated indirect costs) for this school year compared to next school year. Then beginning in early March 2026, returning students will also receive their annual estimate per usual of the new 2026 tuition, fees, room and board charges, minus aid from all sources including federal aid, resulting in their expected payment for the 2026-2027 academic year. At the conclusion of the spring term after room and board selection, students whose estimates have changed will receive a more complete financial aid offer letter.
For returning students, the net price before federal aid will not be any higher than it is currently. If it is lower due to this change, you will pay the lower amount.
Current students will still receive a scholarship from Prescott College if necessary to make it so that they will not pay more than they currently do before federal aid is taken into account. In other words, the total amount of institutional scholarships for each current student will be adjusted, to be in line with the new tuition. Bottom line: your out-of-pocket cost will be roughly the same as what you are paying now, unless there are changes to your federal aid unrelated to our change in tuition.
Yes! There are no changes to the endowed scholarship program. Students can still apply in the spring each year for these donor provided scholarships. If selected, students will receive the endowed scholarship in the following school year.
No. Campus jobs for students will still be available.
No. Eligibility for Federal Pell Grants is based on a family’s income and assets, as reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Federal student loans are available to most students who file the FAFSA
Federal financial aid is awarded based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Prescott College’s policy on outside scholarships remains the same. In most cases, outside scholarships secured by the student do not reduce aid like federal work study and federal student loans but may, depending on the restrictions of the outside scholarship provider and the student’s cost of attendance minus their student aid index from the FAFSA.
For undergraduate, on-campus students, financial aid packages will be adjusted in line with the new tuition.
Prescott College is resetting its published tuition price for on-campus undergraduate students beginning in Fall 2026. Students enrolling in this program in Spring 2026 will reflect the college’s 2025-2026 tuition and room and board charges. Their tuition and financial aid will then be adjusted in Fall 2026 in accordance with the new tuition pricing plan.
