Doughnut Economics

Since its creation in 2012, the Doughnut Economics model has served as a conversational space for reimagining a future with an economic system that balances the needs of people while respecting planetary boundaries. The Doughnut Portrait of Place is a concept developed by the Doughnut Economics Action Lab (DEAL). It is a framework that combines the Doughnut Economics model with a focus on specific geographical areas or communities, assessing and visualizing a particular area’s social and environmental well-being. The goal is to create a comprehensive understanding of a community’s performance in these areas, helping to guide policies and actions that promote thriving societies within the planet’s ecological limits. In this 2-hour workshop, participants will create a portrait of ‘place’ through four unique lenses. There is also an option to deepen the portrait and explore in-depth topics.

En-ROADS Climate Simulation

Developed in partnership between The Climate Interactive and MIT Sloan, EnROADS is a global climate simulator created with the best available climate data. In this 90-minute workshop, participants propose various climate policies–such as energy efficiency, carbon pricing, planting trees, and carbon dioxide removal–to create a scenario limiting global warming to 2°C above pre-industrial levels, a recognized goal in the Paris Climate Agreement. Peer-reviewed studies have demonstrated that those who engage with En-ROADS are empowered to take action with a strengthened connection and improved understanding of climate issues. The experience will be educational, action-oriented, and hopeful.

Worldwide Teach-in on Climate and Justice

Prescott College is an annual participant in The Worldwide Teach-in for Climate and Justice, held every April. It is a global educational initiative to raise awareness about climate change and advocate for social and environmental justice. It unites educators, activists, and communities worldwide to engage in discussions, workshops, and educational activities focused on the intersectionality of climate issues and social justice. The teach-in emphasizes the importance of collective action and empowerment to address climate-related challenges and promote sustainable solutions.
