Dr. Nisha Warbington is a highly accomplished counselor with a distinguished background in both academia and professional practice. She holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and a Master of Human Sciences in Human Development from the University of Alabama. She has served as a Counselor Educator for the last 15 years. For over two decades, she has maintained a successful private practice in Tuscaloosa, where she specializes in attachment and childhood trauma, with a particular focus on serving adoption and foster-care communities. Dr. Warbington also has extensive experience as a school counselor, having served at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.

She is a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Nationally Certified School Counselor (NCSC), as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S) in Alabama. She is active in American Counseling Association and The Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES), as well as WACES and SACES.  Dr. Warbington currently serves as the Treasurer of the Alabama Counseling Association’s Counselor Education and Supervision (ALACES) division and is a member of Chi Sigma Iota, the international honor society for counseling, where she has served as President of the Rho Chapter at the University of Alabama. She is also actively involved in the Alabama Counseling Association and the American School Counselor Association.

Dr. Warbington’s research interests include mental health literacy, stress management, and self-care, areas in which she continues to contribute to the field. On a personal level, she is married with six children and maintains a hobby farm. This farm is often used to support nature-based counseling and promote self-care within her community, reflecting her holistic approach to well-being. Her leadership, dedication, and innovative methods make her a respected and influential figure in the counseling profession.
